Creating a city that was contained within a dome was a challenging task. Our primary objective was to design a city that resembled medieval cities, with a central keep and surrounding walls. To accomplish this, we used a tool called Watabou's Medieval City Generator.
The Medieval City Generator is a powerful tool that allows users to create 2D maps of medieval-style cities with customizable parameters such as size, shape, and terrain. By using this tool, we were able to generate a base point data for our city layout. This helped us save a lot of time and effort that we would have otherwise spent in manually designing the entire city layout from scratch.
After obtaining the json data, we proceeded to create a city generation tool that was customized to meet our specific city requirements. Our tool took the data and divided it into various categories, such as roads, buildings, city blocks, city zones, and an outer wall. By splitting the data in this manner, we were able to design a more comprehensive and detailed city layout that aligned with our vision.
In order to establish a cutting-edge transportation system for our enclosed city, we opted to transform the traditional roads into a revolutionary flying car traffic system. With the assistance of our city generation tool, this transition was made possible. By leveraging advanced technologies, we extracted the road data from our json dataset and transformed it into splines that served as the foundation for our driveable paths. Additionally, our system utilizes a vehicle spawner that only operates within the player's range, thereby optimizing vehicle placement and reducing resource consumption.
Overall, the process of creating a city within a dome was a rewarding and fulfilling experience. By using the Medieval City Generator and our own creativity, we were able to create a unique and functional city that would serve as a model for future cities within domes.
