Welcome to the Lasers and Mirrors project, where I had the opportunity to showcase my game design skills by creating a custom game mechanic using the Introduction, Practice, and Mastery (IPM) model. The project involved building a blockmesh level that gradually increases in difficulty as the player progresses through each section. The project culminates in a custom finale that I specifically designed to challenge players and provide a satisfying conclusion to the experience. Explore the Lasers and Mirrors project to see how I utilized my creativity and game design expertise to bring this project to life.
The Introduction Area
You're stranded and must explore to survive. As you approach the wreckage of your spaceship in the distance, you encounter a door blocking your path. Use your problem-solving skills to open the door with a nearby laser, used as the introduction for the more challenging laser puzzles to come.
Introduction Area Continued
Further in the Introduction Area, you'll discover the game mechanic's capabilities through a series of challenges. First, you'll learn to use mirrors to reflect the lasers. Then, you'll use a combination of mirrors and lasers to open the door to the downed spacecraft. Once inside, you'll face a new obstacle: a falling rock that blocks the laser and traps you in the ship. Overcome this challenge to progress and discover what lies ahead.
The Practice Area
As you move past the stunning view of the final Mastery Area, you'll enter the Practice Area with a singular objective: open the door on the other side. To accomplish this task, you'll need to use a combination of lasers, honing your skills in preparation for the challenges ahead. This area is designed to provide ample practice, so you'll be ready to tackle the final area with confidence.
The Mastery Area
Welcome to the Mastery Area, the ultimate test of your laser and mirror skills. In this area, you must use three lasers from three separate rooms, each accessible one at a time, to converge on the spacecraft's core and jump-start it. This is the most challenging part of the game, but don't worry, all the practice up to this point should have equipped you with the skills necessary to succeed.

And to make things even more exciting, I've added a fun twist: you'll need to dodge the engines as they backfire behind the ship to reach the exit point. It's a thrilling end to an already exciting experience. Check out the full video to experience it all for yourself!
